Farmer to Farmer

The Farmer Advocates for Conservation is a peer-to-peer mentor program designed to elevate the voices of farmers who are applying regenerative practices on their farms.  The goal of this program is to train early adopter farmers to advance a culture of conservation that influences and supports middle adopter peers as they transition to sustainable practices such as no-till, cover crops and edge of field water management.

The Nature Conservancy (TNC) and our partners have tested this model over the last three years in the Maumee River Watershed.  To date, 20 trained Advocates (who manage more than 20,000 acres themselves) have directly reached over 7,500 farmers through workshops, field days, small group meetings and one-on-one interactions totaling 665,882 acres influenced.  Their messages have indirectly reached an additional 800,00 people through articles, social media, and on-line videos.

Join Us!

Meet the Farmer Advocates for Conservation! They include farmers in the Maumee River watershed that actively build the health of their soils and thoughtfully manage water on their farmland. Each one is unique and willing to work with other farmers to achieve their own goals. Join us for the power of peer networking! The farmers involved in Farmer Advocate for Conservation peer groups are invited to 2 free Haney Soil Test certificates. Please contact a Farmer Advocate for Conservation for your certificates.
